The Magic Theatre refers to Hermann Hesse’s novel Steppenwolf, “Entrance not for everybody. Price of admittance, your mind and 3 shillings”. Robert Hughes, author of The Shock of the New, said of this issue, “Sharp has assembled one of the richest banks of images that has ever appeared in a magazine”.
