Career

I am currently a Lecturer in Music Technology at the University of Wolverhampton. I've always had a passion for music, playing the guitar since I was 7 and the flute since I was 10. I was classically trained, although as I grew up the electric guitar seemed rather appealing, and I took up singing. I was even on TV once appearing with a band I was in called Carpathia on Yorkshire Tonight! Those were the days! Anyway, I found I was being to be more and more interested with the stuff behind the scenes, and after getting a 4-track cassette recording, I was hooked!

I studied for a degree in Music Technology at Staffordshire University, passing with 1st class honours. I then went on to do research into acoustics at Loughborough University for 2 years, looking into the acoustics of car interiors. While I was at the university I became manager of their commercial recording studios, Aura. I trained over 15 students with no previous experience, and recorded a lot of material, including 2 albums.
