PO2011 Issues in Contemporary Europe
Semester 2 2008-2009

In this module, we explore a range of issues which are of contemporary concern and which illuminate questions of democracy, human rights and citizenship in Europe. Current case studies include demography & unemployment, migration, terrorism & state violence, popular participation in politics, press freedom & the role of journalists in politics.
The module will include European countries both inside and outside the European Union.

Level 2, 15 credits Thursday afternoon, Wolverhampton
Pre-requisites Any Level 1 Politics, Sociology, Social Policy module or LN1005
Teaching/Learning Methods Tutor presentations, small group and whole group discussions, workshops, independent research.
